Glen Lake Boat ParadeIt’s time to break out the red, white and blue! Here are some events to celebrate July 4th at your favorite spots in Leelanau County – break out the flags, sparklers, and fireworks!

Glen Lake Boat Parade

July 4, 3-4 p.m., Glen Arbor

Break out the boat decorations and flags and hit Glen Lake for a parade on waves. No need to register – just show (boat) up. Meet on the water at 3 p.m. in front of Glen Lake Yacht Club and head towards the Narrows. The parade will go under the bridge and out towards the boat ramp, then head back under the bridge. Those who want to keep the parade going can circle the lake. Expect those along the shore to be cheering for you as well! 

Glen Lake Woman’s Club Flag Raising Ceremony 

July 4, 10 a.m., Glen Arbor

This event will be held at the picnic grounds at Old Settlers Park on Glen Lake's shore, on South Dunns Farm Road (County Road 675). The Glen Lake Woman’s Club was established in 1937 with a mission to foster social, civic, and educational projects. This event celebrates the founding of our nation in a joyous ceremony open to all community members of all ages.

This event is free and open to the public.

Stan Brubaker's Celebrate America ParadeStan Brubaker’s Celebrate America Parade

July 4, Noon, Glen Arbor

This parade of classic automobiles started in 1963 and Stan’s kid and grandkids have kept it going! Anyone is welcome to participate. No registration is required. Vehicles are welcome to join the parade: arrive in Glen Haven around 11 a.m. to begin lineup. If you’re a walker joining the parade, please enter the parade closer to town, via Forest Haven Road. Please do not enter the parade until the last vehicle passes. Candy will be thrown but water balloons and squirt guns are prohibited.

Details are yet to be posted, but the parade traditionally starts at 3 p.m. Applications are now being accepted to participate.

Start your July 4th with family and friends by participating in one of Leelanau County's longest on-going events, the Northport Run for Cancer Funds. Sign up for the 2 Mile Walk or 5K Run (chip timed). Their goal is to raise a record $15k for the American Cancer Society.

Join the celebration on the lawn of the Marina at Bay Front of Haserot Park. Bring your lawn chairs, snacks and oohs and ahhs, and enjoy the 4th in the North!
