Strap on the skis or snowshoes and get ready for some good (tasting) laughs. The Wiener Ski is back on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Shady Lane Cellars in Suttons Bay. It’s time for wine, warming fire pits, and melty raclette-topped beer brats on the estate’s winter-postcard-worthy property overlooking the Leelanau Peninsula.

The trails are interconnecting loops rolling through the vineyards. For more information on hills (and who doesn’t need to know this!) or for a trail map, visit Shady Lane’s XC Trail page. The trails can be accessed from Shady Lane’s rear patio and also from the Leelanau Trail just south of Shady Lane Road.

Visitors can take the 5k loop for cross-country skiing and hiking (if it’s firm enough) or choose a separate 1.5k trail made for snowshoeing on the estate winery’s property.

Reconvene after with a winter menu that warms the toes: mulled wine, s’mores, hot chocolate and comfort food – for the “wien”!

Beginning at noon, Leelanau Cheese Company will be selling beer brats on a pretzel bun with sauerkraut and whole grain mustard, topped with melted raclette for $15. Shady Lane Cellars will offer wine tastings and more. Enjoy mulled wine for $10, hot chocolate for $5 and s’mores kits for $5.

Brats will be first come-first served starting at 12 p.m., until sold out. The trails and winery open at 11 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.

You can bring your own gear or rent skis or snowshoes from Suttons Bay Bikes. They will be delivered to Shady Lane at the start of the event and must be returned by 5 p.m. Visit their link to reserve your skis today. Packages range from $20-$30 a person.

Admission is free and open to the public. Wiener Ski is a winter outing that welcomes guests of all experience levels and ages. This is a family-friendly event, so be sure to bring the whole pack!
