Sleeping Bear Dunes Ranger-led Snowshoe Hike - Saturdays in January
Join park rangers for ranger-led snowshoe hikes Saturdays throughout the month of January. Participants are asked to meet at the National Lakeshore’s Philip A. Hart Visitor Center in Empire, and you only need to purchase the park entrance pass or have an annual pass to join in the fun.
Reservations are required whether you need to borrow snowshoes (provided at no extra cost) or supply your own. Ranger-led snowshoe hikes are limited to 30 participants. Please call 231-326-4700, ext. 5010, for details and to make reservations. If you make a reservation but then need to cancel, please call and let us know so we can contact visitors on our waiting list. Hikes usually last until 3 pm, and participants are advised to dress in layers and bring a pair of durable, waterproof boots.
Sips and Soups - January 10th & 24th
Another “souper” event being held along the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail this winter, Sips and Soups offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy a yummy soup and wine pairing at each of the 22 participating wineries along the trail. Tickets are $10 per person and include a souvenir wine glass. In addition, $3 for each ticket sold is being donated to the local food banks coordinated by Leelanau Christian Neighbors.
Sip and Dab - January 10th, February 21st, March 7th
Looking for a fun and relaxing night out in Northern Michigan this winter? The Homestead’s Sip and Dab is a social event that combines acrylic painting, sipping, socializing and eating. No art supplies or experience necessary. Easels, brushes, paint, apron and canvas are all provided; PLUS an artist-of-the-night who will guide you through your painting step-by-step. Afterward, you’ll enjoy a cooking demonstration by The Homestead’s own Chef John Piombo. Perfect for a creative date night, ladies night, or an evening with friends, family or co-workers, Sip and Dab classes are expected to sell out, so be sure to reserve your space early.
