Spectacular Golf Courses and Golf Instruction

Area Courses

The topography, soils and weather conditions in the area are as ideal for summer season golf as one can find in America. As a result, there are numerous courses near the National Lakeshore, several of which are near its most popular attractions in Glen Arbor. Those courses and The Homestead offer uniquely attractive golfing packages. So... bring your clubs!

Dave Pelz Scoring Game School

Dave Pelz, who is widely recognized as the nation's foremost authority on the short or "scoring" game, chose The Homestead for one of his five permanent Scoring Game Schools. And, in cooperation with a noted landscape architect and architect, Pelz designed an all-new facility for teaching shots that are used within 100 yards of the hole. It is now complete and fully operational.

Golfers who attend a one day clinic or three day school at the new facility will lower their scores by learning the same approach to the game that Pelz has taught to touring professionals such as Beth Daniel, Lee Janzen, Phil Mickelson, Se Ri Pak, Vijay Singh, Annika Sorenstam and Mike Weir.

Manitou Passage Golf Club

Manitou Passage Golf Club is an Arnold Palmer Signature Course located in close proximity to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Inspired by a common vision to develop a destination golf course in the heart of Leelanau County, a group of passionate local golfers purchased Kings Challenge Golf Course in 2009. The group’s mission was not only to make the course more challenging for low handicap players, but also to meet the needs of the average player. As they made major renovations to the course and to the physical structures such as the clubhouse, patio, parking, roads and entrances, they never lost sight of their goal to preserve the natural wildlife habitat.

Manitou Passage Golf Club celebrated its opening in June 2010 and is located a few miles north of The Homestead. Stay and Play packages are available throughout the season at local resorts and inns.
