Sleeping Bear Dunes Ranger-led Snowshoe Hike - Saturdays in January

Join park rangers for ranger-led snowshoe hikes Saturdays throughout the month of January. Participants are asked to meet at the National Lakeshore’s Philip A. Hart Visitor Center in Empire, and you only need to purchase the park entrance pass or have an annual pass to join in the fun.

Reservations are required whether you need to borrow snowshoes (provided at no extra cost) or supply your own. Ranger-led snowshoe hikes are limited to 30 participants. Please call 231-326-4700, ext. 5010, for details and to make reservations. If you make a reservation but then need to cancel, please call and let us know so we can contact visitors on our waiting list. Hikes usually last until 3 pm, and participants are advised to dress in layers and bring a pair of durable, waterproof boots.

Sips and Soups - January 10th & 24th

Another “souper” event being held along the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail this winter, Sips and Soups offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy a yummy soup and wine pairing at each of the 22 participating wineries along the trail. Tickets are $10 per person and include a souvenir wine glass. In addition, $3 for each ticket sold is being donated to the local food banks coordinated by Leelanau Christian Neighbors.
